Get to know meI have been a clinical social worker for over 20 years, practicing primarily in inpatient and outpatient medical settings. The philosophy that flows through all of my work is that at any given moment, we are all doing the best that we can with the tools and circumstances we have to work with. When we are struggling within ourselves or with others, this is often due to a gap between our expectations and our own or others' ability to meet them. My hope is that through our work together, we can explore some of those challenges and problem solve together.
I am trained in and use a variety of approaches in my work including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution-focused therapy. When it comes to parent coaching, I subscribe to and am heavily influenced by Ross Greene's Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS). My approach is generally informal and non-judgmental. I use a trauma-informed lens and also tend to use a good deal of humor in my work. "You gotta laugh at yourself; you'd cry your eyes out if you didn't" - Emily Saliers I welcome you to give me a call to discuss further whether I can be a good fit for your needs. |
